A not-for-profit organization dedicated to Malayalee friends living in Burlington, Oakville and Milton communities of Ontario, Canada. Our mission is promoting social, recreational, cultural interests and values of all Malayalees, living in Halton region and beyond by celebrating our accomplishments and supporting in times of need.
The Halton Malayalee Association is a not-for-profit cultural organization of people from Kerala, a southern state of India. The association which was previously known as “Halton Malayalees” was started as a small group in 2011. Few friends came together with a vision to bring all Malayalees living in the Halton region together for a fun day of picnic at the Lowville park. There, a small group of families got together to nominate a working committee with Alex George as our first President.
Since then, HMA started organizing a variety of programs and cultural activities annually to bring the community together as one people, connected to the rich and colorful Malayalee heritage, and to ensure our next generation grow up enriched by our values and culture. As we welcome more families to the Halton region every day, HMA takes pride in helping Malayalees make Halton region their new home. Today we have a growing membership and an active annual calendar of events with Onam celebrations, an annual picnic, and Kerala Piravi cultural show. Malayalam classes started in the year 2012 and have now expanded to Milton and Oakville. HMA also organizes sports clubs, sporting events, talent shows, information and education nights, family fun nights, fundraising initiatives for charitable activities back in Kerala, and right here, where we live. HMA aims to be a model organization to celebrate our heritage through cultural and humanitarian activities, thus strengthening the bond that holds us together and
celebrate our accomplishments and support in times of need.
